Preparation for Death
Preparation for Death or Considerations on the Eternal Maxims
Imprimatur 1857.
The present work was written by St. Alphonsus Liguori in 1758 and translated from the Italian by Robert A. Coffin; and while it has ever ranked as one of the most popular of his spiritual works, it has also proved to be one of the most effective in the salvation of souls. It is useful for all as meditations, and serviceable to priests and sermons.
It has always been a favorite book for meditation. In order that it may serve that purpose still more efficiently, the method of mental prayer, as given by St. Alphonsus in the Homo Apostolicus, has been prefixed to it, by way of introduction, and with the conviction that it will be of great use to all those who desire to give themselves to the practice of meditation.
